Attorney Job Description – Family Law Associate.

We are looking for an experienced Family Law Associate to join our team! Sarji Law Firm is a family law and criminal defense practice in the Charleston, SC area, serving Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester counties. We help people find their way through family court and back to a happier life.

We are in search of an exceptional Family Law Associate with at least 1-3 years of experience to assist our firm in delivering unparalleled legal services to the community. This position can be in person, hybrid, or remote. In person firm meetings will be held in our downtown office.

The Job

  • Demonstrate experience in taking ownership of a client’s case – discovery, pleadings, motions; collaboration and mediation; pretrial hearings, motion hearings, and trials.
  • Conduct client meetings and recommend strategies.
  • Delegate work to paralegals and legal assistants and monitor their work.
  • Be able to work independently in a remote workspace and have the discipline to meet deadlines.

The Essentials

  • We need an attorney who can contribute to developing the strategy of a case and who knows where to find the rules of procedure to back up that case strategy.
  • We need an attorney who knows how to find your way around the courtroom and how to project confidence and competence when dealing with people on behalf of our clients.
  • Knowledge of the Rules of Evidence is a definite plus — but being able to learn and knowing when to ask questions is just as valuable.
  • Our ideal attorney knows how to read financial statements, understands equitable distribution, can help put together a parenting plan.
  • If you want to help our clients build a new life, you’ll love our firm culture.
  • Skills and experience are important and valued, but your personality, character, intelligence, and integrity are also extremely important considerations.
  • We are growing, and you will be called upon to wear many hats. We need someone who is willing to do “paralegal work” when needed and won’t scoff at being asked to pitch in with whatever needs doing.

Compensation

Salary is commensurate with skill and experience and is negotiable. The compensation package includes base salary plus bonus compensation for production and performance. We offer generous paid time off. We also pay for continuing legal education and bar dues. We offer a contribution to monthly health insurance premiums for policies through the firm, after the first 90 days of employment.

Attorney Job Description – Family Law Contract Attorney, with potential for hire.

We are looking for an experienced family law contract attorney to join our team! Sarji Law Firm is a family and criminal law practice in the Charleston, SC area. We help people find their way through family court and back to a happier life.

We are in search of an exceptional Family Law Contract Attorney with at least 3 years of experience to assist our firm in delivering unparalleled legal services to the community. This is a remote position, with potential for a part time or full-time position being offered.

The Job

  • Complete tasks as assigned, including client meetings, drafting affidavits, conducting research, etc.;
  • Attending court and arguing temporary hearings and other Motions;
  • Demonstrate experience in taking ownership of a client’s case – discovery, pleadings, motions; collaboration and mediation; pretrial hearings, motion hearings, and trials;
  • Conduct client meetings virtually;
  • Work with paralegals and legal assistants to ensure effective and thorough preparation of a client’s case; and
    Be able to work remotely and still have the discipline to meet deadlines.

The Essentials

  • We need a contract attorney who is able to travel to the tri-county (Charleston, Berkeley, Dorchester) area to argue temporary hearings and other Motions.
  • We need someone who can contribute to developing case strategy and who knows where to find the rules of procedure to back up that case strategy.
  • We need an attorney who can work collaboratively with our team, and who will strive to offer our clients the level of service to our clients that is our touchstone.
  • Our ideal contract attorney knows how to read financial statements, understands equitable distribution, can help put together a parenting plan.
  • We need an attorney who can think on their feet, to be able to respond with effective arguments when being handed a temporary hearing packet moments before the hearing begins.

  • We are growing, and you may be asked to do many different types of tasks. We need someone who will pitch in to meet a deadline and help to calmly and effectively prepare emergency hearing packages.

Compensation

You will be paid as a contract attorney, and the hourly rate will be commensurate with experience. I will also pay travel time for up to 1 hour each way for court appearances in Berkeley and Dorchester County Family Courts and for up to a half hour each way to Charleston County Family Court.
