As a Charleston divorce lawyer, I have worked with families and individuals going through divorce and custody cases in Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester Counties to help them find their way to resolution. I have worked for 25 years in South Carolina Courts, including Family Court, Criminal Court, and in Federal District Court. I have extensive trial experience in defending adults in criminal courts, juveniles in the juvenile justice system, and in litigating issues in family court. I am a trial lawyer working in Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester Counties, working to resolve cases in which custody, division of assets, parental rights, and grandparent’s rights were at issue.[...]
I have extensive experience with trial advocacy and am a seasoned attorney who is able to argue both the facts and the law effectively. I have a background in both criminal defense and civil litigation, which has given me an exceptional understanding of the rules that govern procedure in our South Carolina courts and the skill and knowledge necessary to succeed in litigation.
I am goal oriented but am able to balance the desire to “win at any cost” with the compassion and understanding that are necessary and unique to practicing in Family Court. I got to know the Sarji Lawfirm team quite well over the last 7 months. My case was challenging to begin with and became drawn out for reasons outside of our control. As time drew near the initial temporary hearing, Leslie deeply dove into understanding all the nuances of my case's history and what's at hand. When she and I had a meeting the day before the hearing, it felt as if she had placed her own life on hold and completely devoted herself to the success of the case. The questions she asked me were astute and wasted no time. It's obvious that she runs her firm with strong ethics. Leslie had no issues with holding me accountable and asking challenging questions. The paralegal, Rachel is an absolute pro! She is incredibly focused, organized and devoted to top notch work ethic and timely response! Lastly, I am deeply thankful for Michael, who did most of the negotiations after the initial temporary hearing. I am convinced that he was instrumental in the success of my case. Leslie Sarji is an attorney who cares. She is also an attorney who can get the job done. My case was complicated because it crossed states and jurisdictions. My spouse took our child and left the state we were living in to go to another state. After I served said spouse with divorce papers, the running continued to South Carolina with our child. From there, a suit was filed against me that was frivolous and untrue. In my communication with Leslie and Alexia, I felt that they truly cared about me and would work hard to have the case resolved. Due to the nature of the charges my wife levied against me, it was important to have a legal team that believed in me. After talking to the two of them, I felt more confident because they were genuine in their concern and their combined experience was spot on for my circumstances. The case brought against me was dismissed rather quickly. Though there are no winners in a case such as mine, choosing these two as my representatives in the case was a win.
